YORK- Donald J. Meisenhelter, 87, of York, died Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at Normandie Ridge nursing home. He was the loving husband of Mildred R. "Millie" (Chronister) Meisenhelter. A funeral tribute service will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2007 at Paradise (Holtzschwamm) United Church of Christ, 6777 Lincoln Highway, Thomasville with his pastor and friend, Rev. Thomas D. Bellis officiating. A viewing will be Monday 10-11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Paradise Union Cemetery, Thomasville. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is handling the arrangements. Donald was born in York on June 22, 1920, a son of the late Charles and Thriza Meisenhelter. After graduation from York High School, Donald joined the US Navy and served during WWII. He was employed for 30 years with the federal government working on quality control until retirement in 1975. Donald was a member of Paradise United Church of Christ and sang in the choir. He enjoyed golfing and was on the Geritol League at Grandview Golf Course. Donald also liked to bowl and was on several leagues throughout the years. He liked to go horseback riding when he had spare time. Donald took great pleasure in the mowing the lawn. Donald is survived by two sons, Ray and his wife Pauline Myers of Red Lion and Robin DeVono and his companion, Sandy Hawkes of York; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a brother, Alvin and his wife Janet Meisenhelter of Elizabethtown. Three sisters precede Donald in death. Memorial contributions may be made to the York Rescue Mission, 367 W. Market St., York, PA 17401.
