Donald J. “Don C” Chrismer, of York, went from life to eternal life on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at York Hospital at the age of 81. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Friday, June 16, 2017 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 950 W. Market St., York, with Father Daniel Richards officiating. Viewings will be held from 6-8 PM on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, and Friday from 10-11 AM at church prior to Mass. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Don was born in Bonneauville on July 17, 1935. He was a son of the late John E. Chrismer, Sr. and Catherine (Gebhart) Chrismer. He graduated from Delone Catholic High School, Alumnus of the Class of 1954. He then served valiantly in the United States Air Force. Don went on to provide 35 years of dedicated service in the Local 520 Plumbers and Pipefitters before retiring. During retirement, Don loved to spend quality time with his family and friends. He went to every Delone Catholic football and basketball games. If he was able, he was there. He had a passion for horse racing and was an avid Norte Dame fan; he even traveled to several games. Don was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. He was a life member at the Prince Athletic Club, the American Legion, West York VFW Post 8951, Pleasureville Post 799, AmVets Post 22, the South End Democratic Club, and the Ninth Ward Republican Club. Don leaves to cherish his memory, Janice Chrismer of York; his son, Larry Chrismer II of York; two daughters, Cheryl Chrismer and Sherry Grove, both of York; a brother, Richard A. “Sarge” Chrismer of York; a sister-in-law, Karen Chrismer of York; grandchildren, Steve Chrismer and his wife Missy of York, Larry Chrismer, Jr. and his wife Jessica of York, Johnny Chrismer and his wife Jes of York, Zachary Grove and Ashley Wintermyers of York, and Cory Grove of York; great grandchildren, Nicholas Chrismer, Kaiden Grove, Chloe Colston, Chyla Chrismer, and Dain Chrismer, all of York, and two nieces, Lisa Campbell and Leslie Lentz. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by three brothers, Lonnie, Larry, and John Jr.; a son, Joseph Chrismer; two grandsons, Randy Chrismer and Gerry Spear, and a niece, Christine Chrismer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association, 610 Community Way, Lancaster, PA 17603, or to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 950 W. Market St., York, PA 17401. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the nurses and doctors on Tower 2 at York Hospital for their support and loving care they provided.
