Mt. Wolf—Donald G. "Jerry" McCabe, 75 died Thursday, May 27, 2010 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Barbara J. (Timko) McCabe with whom he was married for 52 years. A Catholic Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Monday, May 31, 2010 at Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc, 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with the Rev. Fr. Louis Petruha of St. Joseph Catholic Church in York, officiating. Viewings will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday and from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Red Lion Cemetery. Born March 11, 1935 in Hopelawn, New Jersey, he was a son of the late George and Marian (Hirtz) McCabe. He was employed as a Distribution/Maintenance Supervisor with Middlesex Water Company, in New Jersey for 44 years, until his retirement in 1996. As a member of the American Water Works Association, he sat on the national board of directors, was a former President, Secretary, and Trustee for the New Jersey Chapter and was a recipient of the Fuller Award for his dedicated service. A United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, he was also a member and past president of the Kiwanis in Woodbridge, NJ. He coached and managed little league in Woodbridge and was the equipment manager of the Port Reading Saints in New Jersey. In addition to his wife, Mr. McCabe is also survived by three sons, Donald K. McCabe and wife Karen of Basking Ridge, NJ, Scott A. McCabe and wife Donna of Highland, NY and David J. McCabe of York, one daughter, Beth Ann Barbato and husband Patrick of Red Lion, 9 grandchildren, one brother, Mark A. McCabe of FL, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan J. McCabe and three brothers, George, Richard and Brian McCabe. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 924 N.
