Donald F. Dunlap

YORK - Donald F. Dunlap, 85, of Spring Garden Township, died Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Doris M. (Samson) Dunlap, his wife of 51 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11am on Saturday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road in York. Viewings will be 6-8 pm on Friday and 10-11am Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military honors by York County Veteran's Honor Guard. Mr. Dunlap was born in Green Township on July 29, 1923, the son of the late Walter Reed and Hazel Catherine (Tolbert) Dunlap. He worked for York Hospital for 25 years until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church of Red Lion, the National Rifle Association, and the Izaak Walton League - York. He was a US Army Air Force veteran of WWII. Mr. Dunlap is survived by a son, Darren W. Dunlap and his wife Patsy of New Cumberland; three daughters, Donna M. Kreeger of Mt. Joy, Deanna J. Protheroe and her husband Richard of York, and Deborah E. Miller and her husband Bradley of Hershey; six grandchildren, James Sechrist, Kimberly and Jennifer Dunlap, Aaron, Ryan and Zachary Miller; a great-granddaughter, Jasmine Sechrist; a sister, Doris E. Sanders of York; nieces and nephews; and a companion, Barbara Drescher of York. He is preceded in death by a sister Jane E. Dunlap; and a grandson, Brandon Lehr.
