RED LION – Donald E. Zumbrum, 86, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Sheffer) Zumbrum to whom he married on March 21, 2013 and has spent the past 50 years of his life. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 23, 2013 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with Pastor Sterling Walsh of Lighthouse Baptist Church officiating. Full military honors will be provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. A viewing will be held from 9-11:00 AM Friday at the Funeral Home. Born January 18, 1927 in York a son of the late Francis and Charlotte (Sprenkle) Greenawalt, he retired from York Intl. in 1987 after 42 years of service. Following retirement he had worked at PADE Auto Auction and Weis Markets on Haines Rd. Mr. Zumbrum had played baseball for Hellam in the Central League and also coached baseball for Victory Athletic Assoc. He was a charter member of Kreutz Creek VFW; served on the Board of Directors for York Whites Jr. Drum and Bugle Corp; was a former member of Yoe Fire Co. where he was a Captain for the Fire Police; and was a member of York Co. Fire Police. Mr. Zumbrum was a US Navy Veteran of WWII. In addition to his wife, Mr. Zumbrum is survived by two sons, John F. and wife Kathy Langione of Tucson, AZ and Dunn A. and wife Dawn Zumbrum of Dover; a daughter, Peggy A. and husband Lee Harmon of West York; three grandchildren, Brent Harmon, Mindy Everhart, and Lisa Michael; seven great grandchildren; and two sisters, Charmaine Boyd of Red Lion and Patty Hake of Elizabethtown. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Greenawalt. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
