LAFLIN-Mr. Donald E. Wallace, 79, of Laflin entered into eternal rest on August 8, 2009. He was the loving husband of Lynn Wells Wallace. The couple was married for 37 years on February 18th 2009. He was born on November 28, 1929 in Kingston. He was the son of the late Albert and Irene Gido Wallace. Donald was a graduate of Hanover High School, class of 1947 and Bloomsburg Teachers College. He was an Army veteran who served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on October 4, 1951. Donald was employed by the Luzerne Intermediate Unit for many years as supervisor of Special Education. He also was employed by Kings College as a speech language pathologist. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Children's Service Center, the VNA and St. Joseph's Center. Surviving in addition to his wife Lynn, are sons, Albert and his wife, Kirsten, Bear Creek; John and his wife, Anne, Kingston; grandson, Dylan; sisters, Constance Morris and her husband, Jack, and Barbara Wallace, all of Hornell, NY; sister-in-law, Susan Hall and her husband, Robert, Jupiter, FL; niece, Beth Wilhelms and nephew, Edward Wilhelms, both of Connecticut. The family would like to thank the nursing staff of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Kindred Care Center and Riverstreet Manor for the excellent care they provided to Donald. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at St. Maria Goretti Church, Laflin with The Reverend Michael Kirwin officiating. Anyone attending should go directly to the church. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8PM at Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. Memorial contributions may be made to Luzerne Intermediate Unit #18, 368 Tioga Avenue, Kingston, PA 18704 or St. Maria Goretti Church, 42 Redwood Drive, Laflin, PA 18702.
