YORK - Donald E. “Don” Hopple, Sr., 71, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Marjorie E. (Roseberry) Hopple, who passed away on July 15, 2010. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 26, 2010. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Turnpike Baptist Church, 519 S. Main St. in Shrewsbury, with the Reverend William Walker officiating. Viewings will be from 7-9 p.m. on Monday at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion and from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Church. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, York, with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born on December 6, 1940 in Hanover, Don was the son of the late Chauncey Brenneman and Bertha (Noll) Hopple. Mr. Hopple retired in 2000 from the former York International Corporation after 39 ½ years. He was employed as a Group Leader in the Engineering and Print Services Department. Mr. Hopple was a member of Turnpike Baptist Church in Shrewsbury. He served our country for two years in the United States Navy during Laos and the Vietnam conflict and also served aboard the U.S.S. Lexington, CVA-16. Mr. Hopple was a former president of the Weiglestown Lions Club and held office on the District Level. He served on several boards as a member and Chairperson. He was a member and former president of the York International 25-Year Club. He also was a member and past president of the Board of Directors of the Heritage Valley Federal Credit Union. Don also held memberships at the Red Lion VFW, Red Lion American Legion, Life member of the Vikings AA, U.S.S. Lexington CVA-16 Association, Jefferson AARP #3699 and a former member of the Happy Home Singers. Mr. Hopple is survived by a son, Donald E. Hopple, Jr. and his wife, Melody of York; three grandchildren, Kaitlynn and Kelsey Hopple of York and Jessica Beard of York; four sisters, Barbara Krebs of York, Judy Gilberthorp and her husband, Greg of Ft. Pierce, FL, Ruth Strine of Ft. Pierce FL, and Doris Brillhart and her husband, Paul of York; a brother in law, Gary Roseberry and his wife, Diane of Cummings, GA ; two sister in laws, Ruby Williams and her husband, Glen of York and Lori Mitzel of York; and many nieces nephews and great nieces and nephews.
