Red Lion—Donald D. Tyson, Sr., 84, died Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Manor Care Health Service-Kingston Court. He was the husband of Dorothy L. (Dietz) Tyson to whom he was married for 61 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 AM, Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Canadochly Lutheran Church, 4921 East Prospect Rd, York with his pastor, the Rev. Allen Schwarz officiating. Viewings will be held from 6-8 PM Monday, at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion and from 10-11 AMTuesday, at the church. Burial will be held in Salem Union Cemetery-Jacobus. Born July 30, 1931 in Red Lion, he was a son of the late F. Dean and Margaret (Patterson) Tyson. He was employed as a valve assembler for 35 years with Allis-Chalmers and later with Voith Hydro until his retirement in 2002. Following his retirement he worked in the maintenance department for the Brunswick at Longstown. A United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, he was also a member of the Canadochly Lutheran Church, a life member of the Pleasureville American Legion and a 35 year member of the International Assoc. of Machinists & Aerospace Workers. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, played softball in the York Men’s League for many years and was an avid bowler in leagues at Colony Park and Lincolnway-West Lanes. In addition to his wife, Mr. Tyson is also survived by one son, Donald D. Tyson, Jr., and his wife, Annette of York; one daughter, Debra A. Howell and her husband, Gene of York; two grandchildren, Heather and Daniel; one great grandson, Alexander; one brother, Leroy G. Tyson of, Murfreesboro,TN and nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 4219 E. Trindle Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
