Donald C. Stringham, Sr.

WELLSBURG- Donald C. Stringham, Sr. AKA Dad, Honey, Poppa, Donny, LePa, G-Pa, Pop, Grandpa, Poppa Don, age 70, was set free from cancer and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at his residence in Centerville, PA surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Rozanne (Harlan) Stringham. The couple married November 3, 1962 and had 50 wonderful years together. Don was born on December 5, 1942 in Greene, NY son of the late Charles and Ruth (Lee) Stringham. He was an SRU High School graduate, Class of 1962. Don retired from Westinghouse/IST after 38 years of service and went on to drive a bus for EMTA. His family and his church were two of the most important things in Don’s life. He was a member and the caregiver of the Bentley Creek Wesleyan Church, was a past Sunday School teacher and Sunday School Superintendant, was a Trustee of the church, and coached the church’s basketball and softball teams. He enjoyed playing basketball and baseball, throwing horseshoes, and bowling. He was the president of his bowling league. He volunteered at Red Cross blood drives, liked to travel and listen to Gospel Music, and looked forward to spending time with his family and friends. Don is survived by his loving wife Rozanne, his children: Teresa (Steve) Snavely of Towanda, PA, Chuck (Robin) Stringham of Towanda, PA, and Donald C. “Bud” (Debbie) Stringham, Jr. of Ridgebury, PA, his grandchildren: Alyssa and Lucas, Krista and Tim, Zachary, Meghan, Breanne and Jeffrey, Mica, Craig, Jarod, Austin, Jordon, Javon, and Josiah, his great grandchildren: Nehemiah, Audrianna, Loralye, Madolin, Braydin, his brothers: Francis (Marylin) Stringham of Ridgebury, PA, and Leland “PeeWee” Stringham also of Ridgebury, his sister Lucy Nowill of Florida, his sisters-in-law Nancy (Bill) Woodard and Jo Schriner, along with several nieces and nephews, many good friends, and his church family. Don was preceded in death by his parents, along with a brother and sister. Family and friends are welcome to call from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, January 2, 2013 again from 1:00-2:00 PM on Thursday, January 3rd at the Bentley Creek Wesleyan Church 13255 Berwick Turnpike Gillett, PA . The funeral service to celebrate Don’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 3rd at the church with his pastor and friend, Rev. Robert Wuethrich, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Hanlon Hill Cemetery. The Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street Wellsburg, NY has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in Don’s memory to the Hope Lodge Hospitality House 1120 South Goodman Street Rochester, NY 14620.
