LEWISBURG - Donald A. “Chink” Digan, 83, died on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. Donald was born on May 16, 1928 in Vicksburg and was the son of the late Mertell H. and Mary I. (Robbins) Digan. He was a Seaman First Class of the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. On November 16, 1956, he married the former Mareta M. (Harner), who survives, and have celebrated 54 years of marriage. Donald was a truck driver for 66 years and had worked for Miles, Johnson Motor Line, PA House and FAST Leasing. He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Milton. He was a pioneer founder and life member of the Susquehanna Motorcycle Club for 64 years and was the oldest “Riding” member. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post 182, breakfast club at the Checkered Flag restaurant, life member of the Elks and Moose and a long time member of the Teamsters. He enjoyed cars, motorcycles, spending time with family and going to the Auten, Digan and Robbins reunions every year. He had the gift of gab. In addition to his wife, Mareta, he is survived by three sons and two sons-in-law; Larry A. Digan and fiancée, Judy Heimbach of Mifflinburg, Randal B. and Linda Digan of Mifflinburg, Ronald N. and Janelle of Danville, two daughters; Keran “Kerri” Crittendon of Lewisberry and Donna R. Digan of Selinsgrove, 11 grandchildren; Chad, Kevin, Stephanie, Ann, Shaun, Brandi, Tariq, Ashley, Blair, Cinnamon and Dalton, 14 great-grandchildren and one sister and brother-in-law; Betty and Glenn Good of Northumberland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson; Neil Digan and one brother, Paul Digan. There will be a public viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at The Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front St., Milton and again from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011 with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. The Reverend Cheryl L. Berner will officiate the services. Burial with military honors will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Milton.
