YORK Dolores Adeline (Despres) Hoover, 84, died May 6, 2011 at Misericordia Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am, Friday, May 13, 2011 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 950 W. Market Street, York, with Rev. Michael Letteer officiating. A visitation will be held Thursday, May 12,, 2011 from 6-8 pm at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York and Friday from 9-10 am at the church prior to the service. Burial will be held in Holy Saviour Cemetery following the service. Dolores was born June 3, 1926 in Manistee, MI, a daughter of George C. and Anna Marie (Brandstetter) Despres. She graduated valedictorian of the Manistee, Michigan High School class of 1944. She worked as a secretary for Catholic Charities until her retirement in 1997. Dolores was an active member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church where she enjoyed attending mass daily. She was a member of Catholic Womens Club of York, Legion of Mary, and Rosary Altar Society. Dolores was also an avid bridge player. The Hoover family would like to thank the staff of Misericordia Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and AseraCare Hospice for their help and compassion in caring for Dolores. Dolores is survived by four sons, Richard Hoover, Jr. and wife Deborah of York, Paul Hoover of Annandale, VA, Thomas Hoover and wife Marilda of Boca Raton, FL, and Stephen Hoover and wife Kim of Bechtolsheim, Germany; Four daughters, Jane Meredith and husband Edwin of Arvada, CO, Elizabeth Wolf and husband Andrew of Washington, DC, Mary MacFarland and husband Peter of Collegeville, PA and Kathleen Hoover of Boca Raton, FL; 30 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Tracy of Scottville, MI. Dolores was preceded in death by a brother, George Despres; a sister Elizabeth Vadeboncoeur; and a grandson, Staff Sgt. Marc Small.
