Diane M. Horton

Diane Marie (Homewood) Horton of York, PA passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2019. Diane fought ovarian cancer with strength and grace for four years. She joins her late husband, Rusty Horton where they will share eternal life. Diane was a devoted wife to Rusty for 44 years. They met in Bermuda while Diane was vacationing and Rusty was in the Navy. A true love story from the beginning. Diane was a dedicated mother to her son Brian E. Horton (Barbara) of Doylestown, PA and her daughter, Dale Moran Bing-Zaremba (Marc) of Furlong, PA. Diane had four grandchildren she loved dearly, Colin Horton (19 years), Lindsey Horton (17 years), Kerrigan Moran (14 years), and Reegan Moran (12 years). Diane was as active and agile as her grandchildren. They will miss her tremendously. Diane was born on November 10, 1947 in Bergen County, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Sidney Herbert Homewood and the late Pauline (Blair) Homewood of Medford, NJ. She is survived by her brother Robert S. Homewood (Karen) of Brookeville, MD and her sister Dale H. Kladder (Fred) of Westfield, IN. Diane was preceded in passing by her sister Patricia B. Schultze of Mt. Laurel, NJ. Diane spent much of her younger years on the ice as she was a competitive figure skater, even competing internationally. She chose going to college instead of a professional skating career; she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ in 1969. Much of Diane’s career (nearly 30 years), she was employed by Topflight Corporation in Glen Rock, PA as a member of their Sales Team. She thoroughly enjoyed her job and the people with whom she worked. Diane was a valuable employee, always going the extra mile. Most important to Diane was her family. She enjoyed family trips to the mountains, hiking and biking and going to the lake. She also loved family vacations in Cape Cod, MA. Diane was often found helping Rusty in his garden and caring for her flower gardens. She enjoyed reading a good book and cooking for her family. She was an active participant in her family members’ lives, leading by example and always enjoying a laugh. Diane’s hands-on approach to life was refreshing. She had many mottos. Her family will continue to live by these mottos and pass them along on their journeys. Diane’s strength and perseverance will carry on in all of us and so will the many memories she helped create. A service to celebrate Diane’s life will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2935 Kingston Rd. East York, PA 17402 on Friday, June 21, 2019. Visitation will start at 11:00AM, followed by a service at 12:00PM. Interment will be held privately. Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, PA 17356 is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to Johns Hopkins Kelly Gynecologic Oncology Service c/o Anna Beavis, MD (In honor of Diane Horton) 600 N. Wolfe Street Baltimore, MD 21287.
