Diane L. Anderson

Diane (Smith) Anderson died June 21, 2024. She is survived by her husband Sam Anderson to whom she was married for 53 years. She is also survived by daughter Hollie Shaull, son- in- law Jeremy Shaull, son Michael Anderson and friend Tammy Ettaro, granddaughters Emma Anderson and Catherine Shaull, Sisters-in-law Sandra Kay Davies and Helen (Muff) Smith, and BFF since first grade Donna (Jones) Stine.

Diane was born in Ohio, then moved to California for several years, then to Harford County, Md. There she attended North Harford H.S. and Harford Comm. College until she accepted a job with United Air Lines as a Flight Attendant. This was back when being a flight attendant was a glamorous, prestigious job (having appearance checks, weight checks, and forced drug checks).

As a flight attendant for 30+ years, she flew into every major airport in the U.S. and most small ones. For 2-3 years she flew international flights out of Dulles Airport to many European airports.

When young, Diane's brother could not say DIANE, and called her Nan, which got to be Nanny. To this day all her relatives and children call her Nanny.

While working for the airline, perks for flying were pretty good, so Diane and family took lots of trips and her children got to travel many places.

After retiring from United, Diane worked nearly 10 years for a local clothing boutique and volunteered at York Hospital.

Diane loved to have family events and gatherings. She also had several other interests: gardening; eclectic house decorating; cars (nae to Ford, Chevy, or Chrysler but yea to BMW, Mercedes, or Corvette); and her clothing-new and stylish.

The "Bridge" club consisted of Diane and Sam, and four other couples. They started off as a bridge club, but morphed into a once/week restaurant club. Diane loved going on the weekly visits to various places to eat with good friends.

There was little that pleased Diane more than the Thursday visit from her granddaughter Catherine.

At Diane's request she will be cremated and there will be no service. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc is in charge of arrangements.
