Denton E. Koons

FELTON- Denton E. Koons, 90, died on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Velma E. (Runkle) Koons, who died on February 15, 2002. The couple had been married for 57 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2015 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion with the Reverend Daniel R. Moore officiating. A viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Cross Roads Cemetery. Born on May 1, 1925 in Red Lion, he was a son of the late Emory and Mary (Snyder) Koons. Denton was a machine operator for McKay Chain for over 30 years until his retirement and also was a farmer. Mr. Koons was a member of Cross Roads United Methodist Church. He loved to go camping and travel. Mr. Koons is survived by three sons, Ray Koons and his companion, Carol Miller of Brogue, Bruce Koons of Felton and Randy Koons of Brogue; three daughters, Gloria Miller and her husband, Woody of Speedwell, TN, Donna Brown and her companion, Dale Jolley of York and Joyce Shanbarger and her husband, John of Felton; 18 grandchildren; and his sister in law, Erma Koons of York. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Koons, Raymond Koons and Lester Koons; one sister, Romaine Smith; and daughter in law, Roxanne Koons.
