Windsor – Dennis E. Workinger, 78, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at York South Nursing and Rehabilitation surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Barbara A. (Druck) Workinger to whom he was married for 59 years.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30AM, Saturday December 28, 2024 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Officiating the service will be Certified Celebrant Allison R. Duke. A Visitation will be held from 9:30 – 10:30AM, Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
Born December 10, 1946 in Columbia, he was the son of the late Chester M. and Charlotte T. (Sprenkle) Workinger. He was a 1964 graduate of Eastern High School.
He was a dedicated employee of 35 plus years with Rutters Farm Store, retiring as Operations Supervisor in 2013.
An avid golfer, he also loved the beach, especially trips to Ocean City, MD, where he rarely missed Spring Fest. He was a skilled woodworking craftsman, a former member of the Red Lion Elks Lodge and for many years played softball for the Craley Drive In. Above all, what he cherished most was the time he spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Workinger is also survived by three children, Dennis J. Workinger and his wife, Stephanie, of Wrightsville, Shelly J. Axe and her husband, Chris of Red Lion and Wendy W. Bowersox and her husband, Bret of York; four grandchildren, Emily Lewis, Corey Axe, Mason Bowersox and Olivia Bowersox; one great grandchild, Ryan Lewis; one brother, Daryl Workinger and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by, two siblings, Lois Whitacre and Joel Workinger.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306.
