Etters—Dennis L. Horton Sr., 66, passed away, Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at his residence in Newberry Township. He was the husband of Geraldine (Horne) Horton. The couple celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary June 4th, 2010. A funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Red Land Valley Brethren in Christ Church, 3555 Lewisberry Rd, York Haven, with Pastor Brian Willison, officiating. A visitation will be held from 10 to 10:30 a.m., at the church. Burial will be held in Emanuel Cemetery. Beaver-Urich Funeral Home, Inc. 305 West Front Street, Lewisberry, PA 17339 is in charge of arrangements. Born July 29, 1944 in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Homer L. Horton Sr, and Lela (Thomas) Horton. He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked as a truck driver for 25 years with various companies and later retired from Messiah Village, where he was employed in maintenance. He was a member of Red Land Valley Brethren in Christ Church and formerly participated in the church's Boys Brigade. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to enjoying wood working, yard work and working on a friend's farm, he also enjoyed donating food to homeless and less fortunate individuals. In addition to his wife, Mr. Horton is also survived by one daughter, Leslie M. Yeakley and husband, Robert G. Yeakley II, of Camp Hill, five grandchildren, Megan and Erik Kline, Chance Horton and Ashleigh and Brianne Little, one great granddaughter, Irys Cheese, three brothers, Homer Horton Jr, of FL, Melvin Horton of Lewistown and Larry Horton of FL, three sisters, Phyllis Dill of VA, Arduth Rose of FL, and Maxine Depew of State College, daughter-in-law, Kelly Horton and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis L. Horton Jr. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Red Land Valley Brethren in Christ Church, 3555 Lewisberry Rd, York Haven, Pa 17370.
