Dover—Dennis L. Hilbert, 66, died Monday, June 24, 2013 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Shanna L. (Kraft) Hilbert to whom he was married for 24 years. Born October 1, 1946 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Leo C. Hilbert, Sr., and Edna A. (Laughman) Hilbert. He was a graduate of Hanover High School and a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed as a machine operator for 35 years with ESAB in Hanover until his retirement in 2010. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing games, bowling, fishing, riding roller coasters, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and watching Penn State or the Giants play football. He also enjoyed vacationing at the beach, especially Cape May and Myrtle Beach. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hilbert is also survived by two daughters, Debra L. Morgan and husband, Jeff of York and Darla S. Grieco and husband, Chris of Murrysville; 12 grandchildren; four step daughters, Lori L. Hermann and husband, Karl of Auburn, IN, Joni L. Kahn of Sarasota, FL, Sheri A. Huffman of Bowling Green, KY and Wendy Sue Martz of Mechanicsburg, one brother, Leo Hilbert, Jr., of Hanover; three sisters, Christine Long of McSherrystown, Linda Baggerman of Hanover and JoAnne Wolfgang of Hanover and nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 PM, Sunday, June 30, 2013 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York with Pastor Brian Connolly officiating. A visitation will be held from 2-3 PM, Sunday, at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
