YORK - Dennis Gilbert Storms passed away on April 14, 2021 at home in York, PA. Born in Richland Center, WI on May 27, 1946, Dennis was the son of the late Donald and Norma Cockroft Storms. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Karen (van der Horst) Storms, his six children, sons Matthew L. and wife Marlene, of Oregon, WI and Brennen C. and wife Dani of Eagleville, PA, daughters Jennifer L. of Upper Chichester, PA and Shannon M. Sanders and husband Chris, and step-daughters, Maureen E. Padgett of Wilmington, DE and Katherine B. Duckworth of Las Vegas, NV. Dennis is also survived by his eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Donald and David. After studying at the University of Wisconsin and a brief career with the Green Bay Packers, Dennis worked his entire life in the dairy industry. He managed dairy plants in Cuba, NY, Visalia, CA, and Somerset, PA, during which he was instrumental in the creation of horseradish cheese spread. In 1997, Dennis and his wife founded Storms & Associates, dairy manufacturers’ representatives, which was passed to their son, Brennen Storms upon their retirement in 2013. The company continues under the able care of Brennen Storms and Chris Sanders. After retirement, Dennis spent his time with his wife, family, and friends. He loved playing cards with family, riding his motorcycle, golfing, and volunteering for the SPCA. A private celebration of Dennis’ life is being held for family only. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the York County SPCA or your favorite charity.
