YORK- Dennis L. Gemmill, 64, died on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Carolyn “Sue” (Smith) Gemmill. The couple planned to celebrate their 34th wedding anniversary on December 27th. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, 250 Chestnut Hill Rd., York, with Certified Celebrant Betty Frey officiating and with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. A funeral cortege will meet at the entrance of the cemetery at 9:45 a.m. A viewing will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York. Born on March 14, 1950 in York, he was a son of the late John F. and Trema L. (Shaw) Gemmill. Dennis was a tool and dye maker for Wire Mesh Products, Inc. and also worked at Fox Beverage. Mr. Gemmill served our country for the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Denny was a member of the Prince AA Club. He was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan. Most importantly, he loved his dog, Precious. Along with his wife, Sue, Dennis is survived by one daughter, Stacey Rudisill (Justin) of York; two stepsons, Ronald Venable (Wahnell) of York and Raymond Venable of York; one step daughter, Randi Rivera (Diego) of York; one granddaughter, Kennedie; eight step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; one sister, Esther A. Burdge of York Haven; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard A. Gemmill; and one sister, Janice M. Franklin.
