Dennis A. Sweitzer

FELTON - Dennis A. Sweitzer, 57, of North Hopewell Twp., passed away at 1:10 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2008 at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD following a long battle with cancer. He was the devoted husband of Joan E. (Warner) Sweitzer with whom he celebrated a 37th wedding anniversary on February 27th. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 5 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with the Rev. Brenda Ferree officiating. Burial will be at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Sweitzer was born April 15, 1951, in York. He was the son of Loretta M. (Godfrey) Sweitzer of Red Lion and the late Walter A. Sweitzer. Mr. Sweitzer earned numerous certifications in the areas of plumbing and HVAC and was certified in both Pennsylvania and Maryland. For the past three years he served as Senior HVAC Mechanic for the Maryland National Parks and Planning Commission. He was also a member of RSES. He had been a member of the Brethren Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of both the York Archers and the Yorkanna Game & Gunning Club. He was also a member of the Good Guys Car Club and enjoyed driving and showing his 1968 Camaro. In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Sweitzer leaves his son, Matthew J. Sweitzer and fianc窠Jennifer L. Dennis, both of West York; two brothers, David L. Sweitzer of Woodbury, NJ and Curtis K. Sweitzer of West York; his Yellow Labrador Retriever, Molly; and several nieces and nephews.
