Demetrios J. 'Jimmy' Zahos

YORK – Demetrios J. “Jimmy” Zahos, 73, passed away Friday, November 2, 2012 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Heidi (Skanias) Zahos to whom he was married for 44 years on September 22, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 2500 Pine Grove Road, York with his Priest, Father Andrew Tsikitas officiating. A viewing will be held from 10-11:00 AM Tuesday at the Church. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Zahos was born March 6, 1939 in Neohorion, Nafpaktias Greece; a son of the late John and Lambrini (Alpoyannis) Zahos. Prior to immigrating to the US, he had served in the Hellenic Army in Greece. Jimmy had owned and operated a number of family restaurants in the York area since the 1960’s, including Hillside Family Restaurant in the Randolph Park Shopping Center. He was a member of Syllogos Neohoriton of America. In addition to his wife, Mr. Zahos is survived by a daughter, Lambrini D. and husband Gregory Nauss of York; two sons, John D. Zahos and George D. Zahos both of York; two granddaughters, Heidi and Sophia Nauss; five sisters, Anastasia Lainas, Ekaterini Masgalas, Aglaia Tsogas, and Sotiria Lamnatos all of York, and Spiridoula Branis of Greece; a brother, Vasilios Zahos of York; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Jimmy may be made to Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 2500 Pine Grove Rd., York, PA 17403.
