YORK – Delores S. (Becker) Myers, 87, died Thursday, August 11, 2011 at ManorCare North Nursing Facility. She was the wife of Robert D. Myers. The couple celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on July 19th of this year. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with the Rev. Sarah Rentzel Jones officiating. A visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral chapel prior to the service. Burial will be held in St. Peter Lischey’s Cemetery in Spring Grove following the service. Delores was born August 11, 1924 in Spring Grove. She was a daughter of the late Ralph and Carrie (Zartman) Becker. She worked in marketing at York Division Borg Warner, Corp. for 27 years until her retirement. She was a member of St. Peter Lischey’s United Church of Christ in Spring Grove. Delores was an exceptional cook and baker. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren most of all. She loved to read her bible and work on crossword puzzles to keep her mind active. Delores was also very close with her sisters. In addition to her husband, Delores is survived by a son, Robert D. Myers, Jr. and wife Georgia of Maryland; 3 grandsons, Andrew, Daniel and Matthew Myers; 8 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janet Hartman of Hanover and Jeanie Lucabaugh of Lebanon; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Brandt. In memory of Delores, memorial contributions may be made: American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
