Delores Genevieve Wilson February 20, 1928-April 16, 2021 Delores Genevieve Wilson was a graduate from William Penn Senior high school in 1946. She took courses at York college that aided in her counseling and social work career. She was passionate about family, culture, the well-being and helping others especially the youth. Her life and legacy lives on through those she had mentored with priceless life counseling. Teaching youth how to esteem themselves highly and adhere to high standards of life. She worked diligently as a community activist to bring about social change. As a family therapist with Family Service of York and York County, she successfully helped dysfunctional families to become a healthy family unit. She was a member of the YWCA board where she worked with the Y-teens teaching and training the girls valuable life skills. Working with the York Recreation Commission and serving on the Crispus Attucks center board she was able to interact with the community providing some guidance and instilling knowledge to motivate quality leadership and workmanship. In addition to her social work Delores would spend hours gardening, she loved working as a seamstress, often making her own clothes. She also found much joy in cooking for her family. Delores Genevieve Wilson was the beloved wife of the late, Lewis C. Wilson Jr. for 68 years. She was the mother of Lewis C. Wilson III, Bruce M. Wilson and Wayne L. Wilson, the grandmother of three granddaughters and the great grandmother of five, (four girls and one boy) grandchildren, along with a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin & Pearl Preston; daughter, Robinette L. Wilson; her husband; Lewis C. Wilson Jr; her four brothers, Joseph Preston, Jessie Preston, Martin (Al) Preston and Anthony Glen Preston; seven sisters, Hazel Price, Regenia Preston, Bessie McIntyre, Evelyn Butler, Bernice Jones, Joan Preston, Betty Walker. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2pm, Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York. A visitation will be held from 1-2pm, Saturday at the funeral home.
