Della C. (Johnson) Tilburg

WILLIAMSPORT - Della C. (Johnson) Tilburg, 93, died on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at the Williamsport Home. Della was born on September 5, 1917 in Greensburg and was the daughter of the late Judson Kaiser and Edna Bell (Fisher) Johnson. She was married on June 25, 1939 to the late Edward L. Tilburg for 59 years until his death in 1998. She was a social worker with the Salvation Army for 30 years and had retired in 1986. She was a member of the Salvation Army Church and was very active there. Della enjoyed sewing and embroidery. Della is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Charles E. and Shirley Tilburg of Williamsport, three daughters and sons-in-law; Barbara A. and Patrick Barry of Athens, Virginia L. and Cecil Best of Linden and Patricia E. and James Weaver of Boalsburg, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, four step grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by seven brothers; Charles, Clarence, Judson, Harry, Lewis, Samuel and Joseph Johnson and three sisters; Florence Reeder, Mildred Gallentine and Gladys Biggerstaff. The graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy with Chaplain David K. Fishel from Susquehanna Home Care & Hospice officiating. Arrangements are being handled by the Allen and Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., Williamsport.
