Deane B. Mckercher

Spring Grove—Deane B. McKercher, 85, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2017 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Jean L. (Fahringer) McKercher to whom he was married for 47 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York is in charge of arrangements. Born January 11, 1932 in Three Rivers, MI, he was a son of the late Carl and Lucile (Brown) McKercher. He was a graduate of Plainwell High School and Western Michigan University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in 1958. He was Director of Product Design for York Casket Company until his retirement in 1996. A United States Navy Veteran, he was also an aviation enthusiast and formerly held his private pilot license. He enjoyed playing the trumpet and as a young man in Michigan played in a local combo. In addition to his wife, Mr. McKercher is also survived by five children, Jeanine Ove and husband, Norman of Arnold, MD, Tim McKercher and wife, Susan of Hanover, Michele McKercher of Bear, DE, Mark McKercher and wife, Julie of Virginia and Matthew McKercher and wife, Kathleen of Phoenix, MD; 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
