Dean L. 'Smitty' Smith

Dallastown – Dean L. “Smitty” Smith, 88, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Dallastown Nursing Center. He was the husband of Edith “Edie” Smith to whom he was married 21 years. A Celebration of Life will be 11 AM, Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with the Rev. Raymond Brooks officiating. Viewings will be Tuesday, October 11 from 6-8 PM and Wednesday from 10-11 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Red Lion Cemetery. Mr. Smith was born August 12, 1923 in Winterstown. He was the only son of the late Floyd and O. Pauline (Grove) Smith. He was the owner of Smitty’s Auto Body Shop in Red Lion and later Quality Auto Salvage in Winterstown. He attended United Methodist Church in Winterstown. Mr. Smith was an honorary member of the Elk’s Lodge in Dallastown and was a classic car enthusiast, remodeling and collecting vintage cars over the years. In addition to his wife, Mr. Smith is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Price of Florida; a step-son George Cline, Jr. and wife Cindy of Goldsboro; and a step-daughter, Patricia Dunn and husband Raymond of North Carolina. Mr. Smith’s wife and family would like to thank the staff of Dallastown Nursing Center for their compassion and care.
