DOVER- Dean E. Miller, 80, died at York Hospital on Tuesday, May 20, 2008. He was the husband of Doris J. (Willow) Miller. The services are private and at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is assisting the family. Dean was born on November 10, 1927, a son of the late John E. and Wilma E. (Mundis) Miller. Dean was veteran and served our country as a Merchant Marine and then in the US Navy on the aircraft carrier the USS Leyte (CV-32), carrying the wounded from the Korean War. When he returned home, he founded the Miller Electric Co., Inc., where he worked for 56 years. Dean had many affiliations, notably are the York Masonic Lodge, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry NMJ (Valley of the Harrisburg Consistory), the Zembo Shrine, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, York Forest No. 30, the Blue Lodge, and the North York Rotary. He was the President of the Sales & Marketing Executives and on the board of Junior Achievements. He was also a life member of the Outdoor Country Club and a member of the Colonial Country Club. Dean enjoyed animals, golfing and fishing. He loved spending time with his family. In addition to Doris, Dean is survived by a son, Michael L. Willow and his wife, Sharon of Dover; two grandchildren, Ashley N. Willow in Iowa at college, and J. T. Willow of Dover; a brother, Gary Miller and his wife, Joyce of Manchester; two sisters, Lois Trayer and Joan Strine and her husband, Edwin all of Mt. Wolfe; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him death are one sister and two brothers. Memorial contributions may be made to the York SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail, N, York, PA 17402.
