WINDSOR - Dean “Dino” Royce Smeltzer, 74, passed away Friday, January 15, 2016 at Hershey Medical Center. He was the husband of Kathryn A. (Saylor) Smeltzer to whom he was married 45 years. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Covenant Moravian Church, 901 Cape Horn Road, York, with Pastor Jeff Coppage and The Reverend Nancy Jones officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-11 AM prior to the service. Burial will be in St. Luke’s Cemetery. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, is in charge of arrangements. Born November 12, 1941 in Red Lion, Dean was a son of the late Spurgeon Russell and Helen Amanda (Holloway) Smeltzer. He attended Kennard-Dale High School and Red Lion High School. Dean worked at Tate Access Flooring, Nathan Hale Furniture, David Edwards Company, and lastly at Wolfgang Candy from which he retired in 2003. Mr. Smeltzer was a member of Covenant Moravian Church for 27 years where he served on the Board of Elders and as Sunday School teacher for 25 years. Dean was a 34 year member of Lions Club International and served two terms as Governor of District 14-C. He was a member of East Prospect Lions Club. Dean enjoyed bowling at the Red Lion Bowling Alley. He was a lover of animals and had a special place in his heart for his four legged friend Candi. In addition to his wife Kathryn, Mr. Smeltzer is survived by a brother, Lee Smeltzer and his wife Nancy of Red Lion; five sisters, Lois Fesi and her husband Louis of Sewell, NJ, Sylvia Henry and her husband Rodger of York, Shirley Parolisi of Exeter, NH, Brenda Craley and her husband Loy of Red Lion, and Sharon Hawkes of Norfolk, VA; numerous nieces and nephews and beloved in-laws, Ronald Saylor and his wife Gerlinda of Red Lion, and Larry Saylor and his wife Kathleen of Hershey. Along with his parents, Dean was preceded in death by two sisters, Delores Smeltzer and Sue Lee.
