David W. Sangrey, Sr.

FELTON- David W. Sangrey, Sr., 89, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at home. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, April 10, 2015 at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 2666 Furnace Road, Felton, with his Pastor, The Reverend Dr. William H. Cluley officiating. A viewing will be held from 1-2 PM prior to the service. Burial will be in St. Luke Cemetery. Born August 26, 1925 in Chanceford Twp., David was a son of the late David L. and Effie Mae (Snyder) Sangrey. He worked as a truck driver for Cement Express for 35 years until his retirement in 1985. Mr. Sangrey served our country in the United States Army during World War II. He received three Bronze Battle Stars, Seal of Colmar (Unit Citation), Citation for Leadership from French Army, Combat Infantry Badge and a Good Conduct Medal for his heroic achievments during his sevice. Mr. Sangrey was a proud veteran and served our grateful country in the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Sangrey is survived by two sons, David W. Sangrey, Jr. and his wife Christine of Brogue, and Terry L. Sangrey of Airville; two daughters, Patricia L. Hoens and her husband Richard of Felton, and Sandra L. Hernandez and her husband Pete of Allentown; nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a brother, Elwood Sangrey and three sisters, Olive Jones, Carrie Buss, and Beulah Robinson.
