David Samuel Peterson, Sr.

YORK- David Samuel Peterson, Sr., 83, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy. He was the husband of Shirley D. (Colvin) Peterson to whom he was married for 60 years. Born August 19, 1934 in “Red Front”, Dallastown, David was the son of the late Fred L. and Nellie Mae Peterson. David, who was known by many as Sam graduated from Dallastown High School in 1952. He was an assembler for York International until his retirement in 1996. David was a member of The New Fairview Church of the Brethren. He also enjoyed bowling and the outdoors by taking long walks daily. In addition to his wife, David is survived by three sons; David S. Peterson, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Red Lion, Kevin S. Peterson and his wife Donna of Ipswich, England, and Jeffrey A. Peterson and his wife Frani of Dover; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; two sisters; Betty Peterson of York, and Mary Brockley of Dover. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Fred L. Peterson, Jr., a son, Clair Eugene, and a daughter, Diane Marie. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held Friday, November 17, 2017 at 12PM at Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, 4263 Delta Road, Airville with Rev. James Shuler officiating. Viewings will be held from 6-8:00PM on Thursday November 16, 2017 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, and from 11:00AM to Noon Friday at the Church. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Presbyterian Cemetery. Dad, You’ve always been a kind and caring man to us all, you will be missed and loved always. The family would like to thank the nurses at Hospice & Community Care for the outstanding care that was given to David (Sam) during his stay there.
