YORK - David P. Eyster, 54, passed away Monday, December 13, 2010 at his home. He was the husband of Fiona D. (Fisher) Eyster to whom he was married for 30 years on September 27, 2010.A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 12:00 Noon Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with Certified Celebrant, Betty Frey officiating. Viewings will be held from 6-8:00 PM today and 11-12:00 Noon Thursday at the Funeral Chapel. Family and friends will be encouraged to share a photo or record a memory of David during the viewing times.Born May 19, 1956 in York a son of Dorothy (Klinefelter) Eyster of York and the late Paul J. Eyster, David was a 1974 graduate of West York Area High School and had attended York College of PA. Mr. Eyster was a Journeyman Electrician and began his career with the former Allis Chalmers where he worked for 17 years and was active with IBEW Union. He also worked at FCI in Hanover and for the past nine years has worked at Graham Packaging. David was a very active alumnus of West York High School Band and participated with Musical Ambassadors. He was a volunteer firefighter with Laurel Fire Station in York City and along with his wife was a former advisor with Explorer Post 57 in Manchester.In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Eyster is survived by a sister, Susan E. and husband Daniel Van Doornik of Richmond, VA; a niece and nephew, Emily and Joshua Van Doornik; mother in law, Catherine C. Fisher of York; sister in law, Kelly Fisher of York; a cherished god daughter, Charlotte Rose Gerhart; and extended family of cousins in York and Scotland. He was preceded in death by his father in law, David Fisher, Jr.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, One Charles Center, 100 North Charles Street, Suite 234, Baltimore, MD 21201.
