David M. Keeney

YORK- David M. Keeney, 89, of York Township passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at ProMedica Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation York South. He was the husband of the late Brenda L. (Blymire) Keeney. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Codorus Church of the Brethren, 1129 Dunkard Valley Rd. in Dallastown, with a visitation from 10- 11 a.m. Pastor Robert Krouse will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in New Fairview Church of the Brethren Cemetery in York. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion is in charge of services. Mr. Keeney was born in York on December 28, 1932, the son of the late Jacob H. and Amy E. (Markey) Keeney and was named after his grandfather. David, along with his brother Paul, were farmers all of their lives on the family farm of four generations. His ancestors were original stand holders at the Penn Street Farmers Market (built 1866) and the City Market (built 1878). He and his brother continued to operate the stands at both markets. Mr. Keeney was a member of Codorus Church of the Brethren in Dallastown. He was a 1950 graduate of William Penn Senior High. He enjoyed deer hunting and enjoyed taking some trips to Montana. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Alaska. Mr. Keeney leaves his brother, Paul E. Keeney of York, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
