LEWISBURG - David Landon Zeager, 78, went home to Heaven on Monday, April 27, 2015 at his mountain home. He was born on July 26, 1936 in Elizabethtown and was the 11th child of the late Paul L. and Anna E. (Landis) Zeager. On November 24, 1962 David married the former Mary Burner, who survives, in Jessup Maryland. He carried a photo of his 'sugar bug' ever since they started dating. David's death breaks a marital union of 52 years. He was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Research Center of Beltsville, MD as a Stationary Engineer. He was a member of the Maryland Association of Power Engineers Chapter 14 and lifetime member of the NRA. David was a man of strong faith and would readily share the good news of the Bible with anyone who listened. He gave out over 4,000 mini bibles during his lifetime. He planted over 10,000 trees in six states. He was a good steward of his Father's creation. David spent many times enjoying walks in the woods, hunting, and fishing with his grandchildren. He opened his private lake for special needs children to enjoy. He was ahead of his time in developing his land in a way that protected and promoted a healthy habitat for wildlife and their environment. In addition to his wife, David is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law; Dwight and Hyunsoon Lee Zeager of Brattleboro, VT and Joseph Zeager and companion Holly Cardell of Snydertown, two daughters and sons-in-law; Reverend Eunice and Rodney Smith of McClure and Loretta and John Hostetler of Winfield, 15 grandchildren; Desiree (Daniel) Shivers, Miyoung (Nguyen) Chau, Yong Sung Kim Zeager, Zander Zeager, Jazen and Parker Cardell, Tiffany (Kristopher) Ryant, Daniel, Luke and Katlynn Smith, Kolton Cashner, Lacey (Brian) Delosier, Amanda and Ruthann Hostetler and Megan Gaumond, two great grandchildren; Rayne Ryant and Ford Shivers, seven brothers and four sisters-in-law; James Zeager of Oakland, CA, Frank Zeager of Lititz, Herbert and Orpha Zeager and John and Rachael Zeager both of Elizabethtown, Charles and Janet Zeager of Middletown, Thomas and Helen Zeager of Hopeland and Harvey Zeager of Golden, Colorado, four sisters and one brother-in-law; Anna Jeanette Kamoda of Monongahela, Ethel Pannell of New York City, NY, Verna Nissley and Arlene and Christian Becker both of Elizabethtown and one sister-in-law; Anna Mae Zeager of Elizabethtown. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by three brothers; Russel, Paul Jr. and William Zeager and two sisters; Mary Ruth Espenshade and Almeda Heisey. A public viewing will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 30, 2015 at The Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front Street, Milton and again from 10:00 - 11:00a.m., Friday, May 01, 2015 at Burkholders Youth Center, 3184 New Berlin Mountain Rd, Lewisburg, PA 17837 followed by a funeral at 11:00a.m. with the Reverend David Anderson officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at the convenience to the family.
