YORK – David L. “Dutch” Irwin, 80, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2024 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Sharon (Tharp) Irwin to whom he was married for 54 years.
A Celebration of life Tribute Service will be held 3:00 PM, Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. 1551 Kenneth Rd., in York, with Certified Celebrant Allison Duke officiating the service. There will be a visitation from 2-3:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral chapel. There will be military honors provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard at the start of the service.
Born January 23, 1944 in Strinestown, he was a son of the late John and Minnie (Sweitzer) Irwin. After high school, Mr. Irwin served our country in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, David stayed in the Army Reserves for two years. After the service, he became an autobody technician. In his free time, he was a former member of Shiloh American Legion and a member of the West York VFW. He is remembered as an avid Phillies baseball and Eagles football fan. Over the years, he had many pet Boxers who he loved dearly.
David is survived by his four children, Douglas A. Irwin and his wife Tanya, Tammy L. Miller and her husband Lon, Kristin M. Irwin, and Alicia A. Irwin; six grandchildren, Ryan, Shawn, Matthew, Haley, Nathan, and Hayden; two great-grandchildren, Quinn and Hunter; and a sister, Romaine Andrews and her husband John. He is preceded in death by his siblings Annamae, Evelyn, Phyllis, Betty, Gene, and Robert.
