David John Fromme

YORK – David John Fromme, 84, passed away at his home on Monday, March 28, 2022. He was the loving husband of Patricia M. Fromme to whom he was married for 20 years. Mr. Fromme was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place from 2 P.M. – 3:30 P.M. on May 22, 2022 Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 1551 Kenneth Road, York. Born September 25, 1937, in Wiconisco, PA, he was a son of the late David E. “Brudd” and Arlene (Bressler) Fromme. After graduating high school, Mr. Fromme married his high school sweetheart, Joan (Jenkins) Fromme. He joined the Air Force and proudly served our country in Korea. Upon returning home, he worked as the Deputy Project Director for NASA at Goddard Space Flight Center. While working for NASA, Mr. Fromme resided in Maryland with his family. He had the unusual hobby of breeding and racing homing pigeons, for which he won a number of awards. Mr. Fromme also discovered a passion for exercise and bicycling during this time. After working for NASA for 35 years, he retired and moved back to Pennsylvania. Mr. Fromme was a member at Fishing Creek Salem United Methodist Church for 20 years, and a long-time member of the Masons. He was also very active in the White Rose Polka Dancers Association, and the Capitol City Polka Dancers. In his free time, Mr. Fromme enjoyed going to the JCC to exercise, listening to music, and making his morning runs to Rutters for coffee. Being an avid bicycle rider, Mr. Fromme would often take two trips a week, and ride from his home in West York to East Berlin. Mr. Fromme was also loved to travel; he and Patricia would travel anywhere from Italy to Alaska, loving the adventure and enjoying their time together. In addition to his wife, Mr. Fromme leaves behind a son, David Edward Fromme (Annie); a daughter, Lisa Ann MacPhee (Thomas); five grandchildren, Rebecca, Amanda, Andrew, Matthew, and Johnathan (Meagan); two great grandchildren, Stella, and Waylen; and a brother, William E. Fromme. He is preceded in death by his first wife Joan (Jenkins) Fromme. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
