David J. Herb

POTTSVILLE- David J. Herb, 76, of Pottsville, passed away Sunday at Schuylkill Medical Center- South Jackson Street, Pottsville, with his loving family by his side. Born in Frackville on January 8, 1934, he was a son of the late William K. and Dorothy V. Dillman Herb. Dave was a 1951 graduate of Frackville High School. He also attended Thaddeus Stevens Trade School, Lancaster. Dave was owner and operator of the former David J. Herb and Son Contracting, Pottsville. Dave was a member of Trinity E.C. Church, Frackville. He was the director of the church choir and a member of the church's board of trustees. Dave was worshipful master of Lodge #216 and Chapter 96, of Pottsville. He was the leader of the former band "The Holiday's" during the 1960's. He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid golfer. Dave was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean L. Blas鐠Herb, who passed away in 1984; his second wife, Elizabeth M. Klein Herb, who passed away in 1997. Dave is survived by his three sons, Bruce W. Herb, husband of Mary Ann, of Marlin, Mark D. Herb, husband of Mary, of Auburn, and Paul R. Herb, husband of Debbie, of Marlin; his daughter, Stephanie Sonnon, wife of Robert, of Pottsville; his 7 grandchildren, Erik and Zachary Herb, Timothy and Cassandra Snyder, Angela Keller, Timothy Newtown and Rachel Sonnon; his two great grandchildren; his companion, Margaret "Peg" Petrushonis; his brother, Raymond E. Herb, husband of Eileen, of Elkton, MD; his two sisters, Joan E. Palsgrove, wife of Orval, of Frackville, and Carol A. Herb, of Frackville; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday morning at 10:00 A.M. in Trinity E.C. Church, 56 North Balliet Street, Frackville. Pastor George Drupp will officiate. Friends may call on Thursday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with Masonic Services at 8:00 P.M. at Schlitzer-Allen-Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., 6th West Market Streets, Pottsville, and also on Friday morning from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at the Church. Interment will be held in Charles Baber Cemetery, Pottsville. Memorial contributions can be made to Trinity E.C. Church, 56 North Balliet Street, Frackville, PA 17931.
