MARION HEIGHTS - David G. Gonzalez, 78, and formerly of Homestead, FL, died on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at his step-daughters residence, Danville. David was born on December 29, 1930 in Puerto Rico and was a son of the late Maximino and Patria (Rodriguez) Gonzalez. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. On April 18, 1981, he married the former Nereida "Nery" (Diaz) who survives. He had worked as a typesetter in New York City. David was an avid bowler, yard sale enthusiast and a New York Mets Fan. In addition to his wife, Nery, he is survived by two sons; David G. Gonzalez, Jr. of NJ and Emmanuel Gonzalez of Cape Coral, FL, one step-son; Jose R. Padron of Binghamton, NY, one daughter; Elizabeth Ormiston of Cape Coral, FL, four step-daughters; Antonia Padron of Oceanside, CA, Barbara Lauver of Elysburg, Lily Bingaman of Danville and Nery Harnish of Mecersburg, 22 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother; Pedro Gonzalez of NY and one sister; Patria Stanley of FL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight siblings. There will be a public viewing from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2009 at the River of Life Assembly of God, 701 South Second St., Sunbury, PA 17801 with the funeral service beginning at 6 p.m. The Reverend Kerry A. Bingaman will officiate the services. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the River of Life Assembly of God. The arrangements are being handled by the Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front St., Milton.
