WEST HARTFORD, CT - David Brumberg, 92, died Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at John Dempsey Hospital, U. Conn. Medical Center. He was born in Lebanon on July 16, 1922 and was the son of the late Joseph and Rebecca (Grichewsky) Brumberg. David married the late Ruth B. (Friedman) on October 12, 1947 and they celebrated 64 years of marriage together until her death on January 22, 2011. David served his country in the United States Army from 1942 to 1946 during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with a ‘V’ for Valor. He graduated from Williamsport High School Class of 1940, Dickinson Junior College Class of 1942 and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Penn State University Class of 1946. David also earned numerous certifications and awards in the field of finances. He worked in the family owned meat packing plant as a general manager, then owner and operator of David Brumberg and Associates, president of Analysis and Planning Services, Inc. and a founding officer and principle of Penn Insurance and Financial Group, Inc where he retired in 1994. From 1966 – 1967 David was the President of West Branch Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors where he served on the board of directors from 1962 – 1983 and was awarded the President’s Cup of West Branch Association in 1980. From 1968 – 1972 he served as Regional Vice President of the Pennsylvania Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and was a life member of the Million Dollar Roundtable. David also published several articles in the National Insurance Publications over a 25 year period. David was a member of; the Congregation Ohev Sholom, Williamsport, where he was the president of the Men’s Club, and served as President and co-president of the board of directors. He served as chairperson of the United Jewish Appeal Campaign of Williamsport Federation of Jewish Charities, President of Eastern Pennsylvania Region of United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism as well as a National Vice-President of United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. He also served on the Lycoming County Chapter of National Conference of Christians and Jews, the board of directors as chairman of special activities committee, a member of Williamsport Rotary Club and received the Community Service Award. David also was the founding President of Lycoming County Brotherhood USA, Inc., a Vice Chairperson for Lycoming county commission on crime and juvenile delinquency and received the brotherhood citation award for the National Conference of Christians and Jews, Lycoming County Chapter. David also received an Outstanding Alumnus Award from Lycoming College. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Jay Brumberg and Peg Parker of Cummington, Mass., one daughter; Beth E. Brumberg of West Hartford, CT, and one granddaughter; Ahna Bielik. In addition to his parents and wife, David was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers. The funeral for David will be held 11:00a.m., Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira Street, Williamsport with his spiritual leader, Rabbi Joel Kessler officiating. Burial will be held in Ohev Sholom Cemetery, Williamsport. In keeping with Jewish tradition, there will be no viewing or flowers.
