David A. Kennedy, Jr.

YORK – David A. Kennedy, Jr., 36, passed away Monday, February 17, 2014. He was the husband of Jennifer L. (Pheasant) Kennedy to whom he was married for two years on Nov. 26, 2013. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, February 24, 2014 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. Visitations will be held from 7-9:00 PM Sunday and 10-11:00 AM Monday at the Funeral Chapel. Born September 24, 1977 in Hanover, a son of Brenda E. (Bastress) Kennedy of Dover and David A. Kennedy, Sr. of York, he was a 1995 graduate of Dover High School. David earned his Criminal Justice Degree from York College and then graduated from Baltimore City Police Academy. He had worked as a Narcotics Detective with Baltimore City Police Dept. for eight years, served as a Corporal with Springettsbury Twp. Police Dept. for eight years, and for the past 13 months was an Officer with Lower Windsor Twp. Police Dept. David was a member of the wrestling teams at both Dover H.S. and York College. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, hunting, and fishing. Officer Kennedy was also a member of Fraternal Order of Police. In addition to his wife, David is survived by a son, David A. Kennedy, III; two daughters, Cierra R. and Haley R. Kennedy; a stepson, Zachari M. Ulerick; and two stepdaughters, Kaliann M. and Lindsey A. Ulerick; two sisters, Shannon O. Avery of York and Cheyenne A. Kennedy of Dover; and his maternal grandmother, Shirley E. Bastress of Abbottstown.
