Darvin E. Pops" Beck, Sr

Lewisberry—Darvin E. "Pops" Beck, Sr, 73, died Saturday, October 17, 2009 at the Golden Living Center. He was the husband of Carol J. (Keefer) Beck to whom he was married for 47 years. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Beaver Urich Funeral Home, Inc, 305 W. Front Street, Lewisberry, with Darrell Schrade, officiating. A viewing will be from 9 to 11 a.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Tri-County Memorial Gardens, with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born May 7, 1936 in Newberry Township, he was a son of the late Albert L. and Anna (Reel) Lenker Beck. He served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1960. He was employed with Gould Inc., for 12 years, as a Machine Operator and later worked for Foglesanger Sunoco as a gas station attendant. In addition to his wife, Mr. Beck is also survived by two sons, Darvin Beck Jr., of Dover and Paul Beck of Boiling Springs, two daughters, Mariann Manley of Newport and Dawn Beck of Lewisberry, 10 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert Beck Jr., and Glenn Beck, two sisters, Dorothy Strausbaugh and Mary Shields, grandson, Brandon Beck and son-in-law, Charles Manley.
