Darthie R. (Harman) Lighty

YORK- Darthie R. (Harman) Lighty, 86, died on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Manor Care North. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 1, 2017 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with Certified Celebrant Betty Frey officiating. A viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Red Mount Cemetery. Born on October 5, 1930, in Lower Chanceford Twp., she was a daughter of the late Ernest E. and Martha K. (Tome) Harman. Darthie was a machine operator at New York Wire in York for over 23 years until her retirement in 1993. Darthie enjoyed attending Bluegrass Jams. Ms. Lighty is survived by two sons, Herbert S. Lighty, Jr. and wife, Carol of York and Dale L. Lighty and companion, Sandy of Champaign, IL; eight grandchildren, Paul, Kevin, Charles, Heather, Chad, Nicole, Ashley and Allison; eight great grandchildren; and daughter in law, Pam Lighty of York. She was preceded in death by two sons, Terry E. Lighty and Glen A. Lighty.
