Darrell Sylvester Canfield, Sr.

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT - Darrell Sylvester Canfield, Sr., 78, died on Friday, May 24, 2013 at his residence. Darrell was born on August 21, 1934 in Williamsport and was the son of the late Everett B. and Gerldean (Miller) Canfield. He was married to the former Barbara Ann (Stabley) who survives and have celebrated over 50 years of marriage. Darrell graduated from Williamsport High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had worked for A & P Grocery for over 20 years then worked for Strohmanns Bakery for over 23 years and retired. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Williamsport and enjoyed fishing and going to the cabin. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Darrell S. and Jenny Canfield, Jr. of Duboistown, one daughter and son-in-law; Elizabeth Ann and Shawn Neyhart of S. Williamsport, one grandson; Alex L. Canfield of S. Williamsport, one brother and sister-in-law; Everett B. and Grace Canfield of California and one sister; Barbara Lee Canfield of Arizona. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son; Leslie M. Canfield. Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in memory of his son; Leslie M. Canfield, 6931 Arlington Road, Suite 200, Bethesda, MD 20814. Arrangements are being handled by the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., Williamsport.
