Darrell L. Hoover

YORK – Darrell L. Hoover, 69, passed away Friday, June 19, 2015 at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Jody Ann (Travers) Hoover to whom he was married for 39 years on March 5, 2015. Mr. Hoover leaves behind four daughters, Jody A. Simoes, Peggy S. Trimble, Michelle L. Price, and Joy Gillette; two sisters, Erin Heverling and Colleen Pieffer; seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clair Melvin Hoover and Colleen Norma Albright; his brother, Terry L. Hoover; and his beloved animals, Chucki and Cinnamon. Born on August 20, 1945 in York, he was a 1963 graduate of West York High School. He retired after 35 years at ACCO. Darrell was an avid fisherman, hunter, trapper, skeet shooter, camper, hot tubber, boater, crabber, archer, gardener, and bird watcher…obviously he loved any outdoor activity!!! Darrell loved life to the fullest and was always surrounded by life-long friends and family members. Darrell will be cremated. There will be no public viewing. To celebrate Darrell, we will be having his last hurrah on Saturday, June 27, 2015 from 3-8:00 PM at the Hoover residence. We invite you, his family and friends to celebrate with us! Bring a covered dish, a towel and chair for a cookout, a dip in the pool and oldies music – just as Darrell would have loved!
