Darlene Y. (Urey) Grothe

YORK – Darlene Y. Grothe, 65, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at her home. She was the wife of the late Larry L. Grothe who passed away June 23, 2008 and Carl J. Rohacek who passed away August 19, 1991. Tribute services and burial in Bethel United Methodist Cemetery will be private. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born March 9, 1952 in York, a daughter of the late Walter E. and Sarah E. (Snodgrass) Urey, she had worked part time at The Brogue General Store and at Mrs. Dollar. Mrs. Grothe was a member of Stonepile United Methodist Church. She loved collecting bears and owls, Longaberger baskets and singing gospel, country and bluegrass music. Darlene will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She particularly enjoyed spending time with her companion dog “Angel” and all her grand pups, which she loved to walk, play and hold on her lap. Mrs. Grothe is survived by a son, Jay and wife Jojean Rohacek of Brogue; a daughter, Suzette and husband Brian Ness of York; a stepdaughter, Kayla and husband William Barnes of Red Lion; two grandchildren, Kyle Shultz and his fiancée Jessica Warner and Katie Shultz; nine step grandchildren, Jake Horton, Harley and Dylan Moser, Brindi and Mariah Ness, Damian, Will, Gabe and Marcus Barnes; and nine step great grandchildren.
