Darlene Iola (Shanbarger) Thompson

FELTON - Darlene Iola (Shanbarger) Thompson, 73, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at WellSpan York Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Richard Eugene Thompson to whom she was married for 47 years.

A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. A viewing will be held from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Guinston United Presbyterian Cemetery.

Born January 23, 1950 in York, Darlene was the daughter of the late John and Fern (Eveler) Shanbarger. She was a devoted member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 40 years. In her free time, she enjoyed genealogy, gardening, canning, and watching wildlife out her window.

Darlene is survived by her two sons, Matthew W. and wife Karen Thompson of Twin Falls, ID and Benjamin R. and wife Julie Thompson of Rapid City, SD; a daughter, Wendy D. and husband Neil Erdenbrack of York; 10 grandchildren, Caleb, Gabrielle, Laurel, Clara, Heath, Hunter, Kaitlyn, Vonn, Ada, and Garon; two great grandchildren, Greyson and Clay; two brothers, John Shanbarger and Michael Shanbarger; a sister, Mary Grim; and many nieces and nephews.
