Dante Cioffi

RED LION - Dante Cioffi, 85, died Friday, October 11, 2013 at his residence. He was the husband of Francesca (Abbatiello) Cioffi. The couple was married February 29, 1960 and celebrated 53 years of marriage. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 251 E. Main Street in Dallastown. His pastor, The Reverend John A. McCloskey, OFM, Cap. will be officiating. Viewings will be from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion, and 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Entombment will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York. Mr. Cioffi was born in Durazzano, Italy on November 19, 1927, the son of the late Evangelista and Teresa (Buffolino) Cioffi. He retired as the Shop Steward and Foreman of Laborer’s Local 66 in New York. Mr. Cioffi was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dallastown. Along with his loving wife Francesca, he leaves a loving son, Dante Cioffi and his fiancé, Karen Henderson of Winter Haven Florida; his loving daughter, Maria Thivierge and her husband Donald of Red Lion; four grandchildren, Dante,III, Alexandra, Danielle and Nicole and a sister, Adela Picarella of Milano, Italy. He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Guiseppe, Antonio, Teodoro, Italo, Evangelista, and Guido; and a sister, Maria.
