ETTERS - Daniel P. Knittle, 77, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024 at his residence. He was the husband of Cynthia D. (Schmidle) Knittle.
Born on July 30, 1946 in Reading, Daniel grew up on a dairy farm and attended a one room schoolhouse in Kutztown PA. He was the son of the late John A. and Ruth D. (Mertz) Knittle.
Daniel served our country in the United States Marine Corps for nearly four years during the Vietnam War as a tank commander. Included in his several remarks and decorations, Daniel is a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal.
Daniel graduated from Reading Area Community College with A.S. in Biology followed by A.S. in Psychology/Sociology in 1984 & 1985 respectfully. He continued his education graduating from Penn State Harrisburg with B.S. in Social Science in 1987.
Daniel, a small business owner, operated Sunrise Natural Foods in Hummelstown for 15 years before his retirement. Memorable moments of him include taking snowboard trips with the family, driving his tractor on his property, and remarking on the importance of rope.
Along with his wife, Cynthia, Daniel is survived by his daughter, Stacey M. Knittle; and three sons, Daniel P. DeAngelis, Kristofer E. Knittle, and Alexander S. Knittle; grandchildren, Ricky, Aaron, Zachary, Alexis, and Anthony; and several great-grandchildren.
Services will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Beaver-Urich Funeral Home, 305 W. Front St., Lewisberry is in charge of arrangements.
