Daniel J. 'Danny' Frie, Sr.

Daniel J. 'Danny' Frie, Sr., age 55, of 1622 West Market Street Pottsville died Friday October 11 at his home. Born February 5, 1958, in Pottsville, he was the son of the late Albert Frie, Sr. and Lillian (Lash) Frie, Pottsville. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers Jesse and Christopher Frie. He attended Pottsville Area High School and was employed as a truck driver for Lehigh Valley Dairy for 28 years. Danny was a loving father who was devoted to his children and grandchildren. He was the co-chairman of the Babe Ruth Baseball Organization; Coach for both Hess Catering Baseball Team and Railway Park. He was also a member of Teamsters Local 429. He is survived by his wife of 32 years Carol M. (Lazarchick) whom he married April 25, 1981; children Danielle Frie- Maxwell, Elizabeth “Liz” Johnson, and Daniel J. Frie, Jr. all of Pottsville. He is also survived by brothers Alert and Kenny Frie, both of Pottsville; sisters Janet Becker and Dorothy Degan, both of Pine Grove; Florence Joulwan, Florida; Victoria Bobinas, Minersville; Jackie Frie, Fleetwood; Paulette Sassaman, Port Carbon; Thelma Martin, Frackville; and Katherine Laub, Pottsville. Grandchildren Makaila Frie-Karanica, Allionah Johnson, and Gavin Frie and his siblings Zak and Miranda Dayson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday October 16 at 10:30AM at Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Pottsville with the Rev. Bradley Schutt, Officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 9AM until the time of service. There will not be any calling hours Tuesday evening. Interment will be in Queen of the Universe Cemetery, Pottsville.
