YORK – Daniel H. Sparks, 89, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Manor Care – Kingston Court. He was the husband of Margie L. (Scrivner) Sparks with whom he was married for 69 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with Rev. Brenda M. Ritterpusch officiating. Private burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born January 30, 1925 in Philadelphia, a son of the late Henry F. and Josephine A. (Farrell) Sparks, he retired from Philadelphia Electric at Peach Bottom in 1985 after more than 25 years of service. Mr. Sparks was a member of Red Lion American Legion. He was a US Army veteran of WWII where he had earned numerous medals along with the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 1 Bronze Star. In addition to his wife, Mr. Sparks is survived by three daughters, Cheryl S. and husband David Huffaker of Lancaster, NY, Carol L. Dohn of York, and Patricia A. and husband Joel Naylor of Simpsonville, SC; ten grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and numerous great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dana Gillin; and two granddaughters. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Assoc., 3544 N.
