Daniel E. Thompson

Red Lion—Daniel E. Thompson, 51, entered into God's eternal rest, Sunday, April 11, 2010 at his home, after an extended illness. Born March 18, 1959, he was the son of Vincent E. and Norma J. (Henry) Thompson of Red Lion. He was the grandson of the late Ezekiel and Mary Thompson of Dallastown and the late Spencer and Margaret Henry of Red Lion. A 1977 graduate of Dallastown High School, he enjoyed watching sports and loved to tackle challenging jigsaw puzzles. In 2005 he retired from General Dynamics after 25 years of employment. He was a lifelong member of Chapel United Methodist Church in Red Lion, where he was active in Sunday school, youth fellowship and the scouting program. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Melinda Meyers and husband, Christopher of Moorestown, NJ, and Laurie Rieger and husband, Richard of Pittsburgh. He was also a beloved and proud uncle of three nieces, Sophia and Isabella Meyers and Ava Rieger; and a nephew, Maxwell Rieger. A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Chapel United Methodist Church, 3050 Cape Horn Rd, Red Lion, with his pastor, the Rev. Robert A. Vizthum, officiating. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m., Saturday, at the church. Burial will be held in Heiland View Cemetery. Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc, 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, is in charge of arrangements.
